Before the world goes gaga over 2018 Baselworld launches, Breguet Watches just teased their first luxury timepiece of 2018. Introducing the new Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367.
The New Tourbillon by its inventor: Breguet Watches
Even before we could finish buying tickets for Geneve SIHH 2018, the classic watchmaker already gave a preview of Baselworld 2018. The beautiful enamel-dialed version of Breguet’s Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat. The Classique Tourbillon has been a prominent part of Breguet Collection since its introduction in 2013. One of the notable features of this timepiece was its 7mm case thickness, making it thinnest in production automatic tourbillon.
Earlier this year, Bvlgari Watches introduced Octofinissimo Tourbillon making it one of the ultra-thin design though manually wound.
The timepiece is made of 18K Rose Gold with an open caseback that gives the beautiful view inside this complicated artwork. With 80 Hours Power reserve and self-winding calibre, it is pretty good for its 3mm slender height. This was achieved by Breguet by reducing the friction to a greater extent by mounting the barrel on roller bearings and implementing a lever escapement with silicon horns in place of ruby pallets and thus not compromising the 4Hz rate. The winding is done by a roto fitted on the outer edge of the case.
The front of the beautiful Swiss watch is a beautiful grand feu enamel dial with nicely placed Tourbillon in the bottom right quadrant. On the careful examination, you can see the Minute and Hour tracks are a little off centre, a design element introduced by A.L. Breguet himself.
